Apparently, Jesse likes girls like knives.



It's the only thing Jane can conclude, cuddling Lisbeth between the two of them, a girl even more slender than her--and she can't keep but feel protective, nuzzling Lisbeth's jagged hair as she drapes an arm over her and Jesse. Jesus. She's so small, entirely difficult to hold, and Jane--Jane wants to feed her, fatten her up. Make her soft and healthy. She kisses the small of Lisbeth's neck and wishes she could do that for her.

Jesse sleeps on his side, like she's always worried about. She reaches out, pressing Lisbeth between them, and caresses his shoulder. He's not so skinny she needs to be scared, really. And he's getting clean. All of them, being clean, and thank God for Lisbeth or Jane doesn't even know where they'd be. But Lisbeth is an anchor. She keeps everyone steady, and thank God for Lisbeth, who Jane loves just as much as Jesse even if slightly different. Who cares? Lisbeth saves both of them.

She can fall back asleep. Everyone is fine. She leaves her arm draped over them both. Her boyfriend and her girlfriend, perfect in their own ways.
